Unusual pets becoming increasingly popular

Discovery market

In recent decades, more and more people have been keeping unusual species as pets, from rabbits to rodents such as ferrets, birds, fish, reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates. The way in which we can keep these species in captivity has definitely evolved and it has become easier to approach veterinarians for advice. Theoretical and practical courses on unusual animal species have also become an integral part of the Veterinary Medicine degree programme. We are illustrating the evolution of veterinary medicine for these special species in recent years. A specialist will be available to answer visitors’ questions on this topic.
