Under the sea

Return to activities

Minerals and metals can be found on the seabed in areas containing nodules of manganese. Scientists are currently investigating whether it is both viable and interesting to mine such nodules. What ecological impact could there be? How does deep-sea mining indirectly affect our daily lives? Humans also have a considerable impact on the sea at surface level. For example, how do wind turbines at sea affect the fish? In order to find out, scientists fit fish with a radio transmitter. We demonstrate how this works and what can be learned from it.
