In the St. Peter's Abbey, the Gents University Museum (GUM) will enter into dialogue with Professor Maarten Van Dyck (science philosophy, Ghent University) and scenographer Koen Bovée.
Four cultural institutions from Ghent and their audience take a closer look and discuss items from the Ghent University's academic collections. At various locations, various aspects of science and scientific research is highlighted through philosophical questions in the form of installations or a pop-up exhibition.
The interventions attract attention, they surprise, and they interact with guest collections and/or environments at the same time. By removing the scientific objects from their original context, the interventions lead to reflections on science and its relationship to culture and society. For every installation, the GUM has invited a co-curator to use his or her expertise to help the project and encourage substantive discussion.
